Facing a difficult choice either to remain with her sick child in Poland or travel to America to earn the money to pay for an operation which may cure him, Ewa travels to Chicago and the promise of a cure for her son. Once in America, she discovers the difficulties of working through the paperwork demanded by the Immigration and Naturalization Service. She seeks employment, finds a lawyer and tries to do her best for her son. Keeping in touch by telephone with her mother, who is taking care of her son, Ewa struggles with beaurocracy in a race against time to save her son’s life.
Written in the style of Les Dames a trois...et piano, this drama features a solo role sung by soprano with a supporting role played by a tenor from the piano.
