Les Dames á trois...et piano
Music & Libretto by Philip Seward
Developed with Natalie Arduino, Amy Becker & Patrice Boyd
Les Dames á trois...et piano is a set of three one-act operas each featuring a different female singer in a leading role with a tenor in a supporting role from the piano. The three operas, Piano Detective, Piano Princess, and ...And Piano Make Three premiered in the Stages Festival in Chicago as a trilogy with a closing Epilogue. Subsequently they have had several performances as individual one acts.
Each opera is set in New York, is stylistically presented in its own film genre, references Shakespeare, and they all share a couple of common musical themes. Click on the above photos to go to a synopsis of each individual opera (or click here for the Epilogue).
The Epilogue, which closes the trilogy when all three one-acts are performed together, takes place in the mind of the composer and poses the question: How does a composer decide how to voice the heroine in his new show?
Les Dames á trois...et piano is available for bookings as a trilogy, any of the acts alone, or in any combination. Send us an e-mail, we would be happy to arrange a performance!
